Personal Care Assistant (PCA)
Personal Care Assistance Services
Fulfilledlyf Care & Community Services (FCCS) specializes in care and daily living assistance to an array of individuals. Whether you need daily or weekly assistance due to aging, illness, recovery or rehabilitation, our care givers will provide an individualized service that will meet your needs. Our services range from Personal Care Assistance (PCA) services to community activities, and we do all this in the comfort of your home. We offer services in the traditional model known as Personal care Provider Organization (PCPO) as well as Personal Care Assistance choice.
Our services covered the following categories:
- Activities of daily living (ADLs)
- Instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs)
- Observation and redirection of behaviors
- Health-related procedures and tasks.
Our PCA staff will assist you or your loved one with the following ADLs:
- Dressing – Including application of clothing and special appliances or wraps.
- Grooming – Including basic hair care, oral care, shaving, basic nail care, applying cosmetics and deodorant, care of eyeglasses and hearing aids.
- Bathing – Including basic personal hygiene and skin care.
- Eating – Including completing the process of eating, including hand washing and application of orthotics required for eating, transfers and feeding.
- Transfers – Including assistance with transferring the person from one seating or reclining area to another.
- Mobility – Including assistance with ambulation, including use of a wheelchair; not including providing transportation.
- Positioning – Including assistance with positioning or turning a person for necessary care and comfort.
- Toileting – Including helping person with bowel or bladder elimination and care. This includes transfers, mobility, positioning, feminine hygiene, use of toileting equipment or supplies, cleansing the perineal area, inspection of the skin and adjusting clothing.
(1). Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs)
Our caregivers will assist you or your loved one with the following:
- Accompanying medical appointments.
- Accompanying to participate in the community.
- Assisting with paying bills.
- Communicating by telephone and other media.
- Completing household tasks is integral to the Personal Care Assistance (PCA) services, such as planning and preparing meals and shopping for food, clothing, and other essential items.
They may also assist a child with Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs) when and Immediate attention is needed for health and hygiene reasons integral to the personal care services as an Assessor has indicated this need on the service plan.
(2). Observation and redirection of behaviors
Our train caregivers will observe and provide redirection to the recipient for episodes of behavior needing redirection as identified in the care plan.
(3). Health-related procedures and tasks
Health-related procedures and tasks may include:
- Assistance with self-administered medications
- Interventions for seizure disorders, including monitoring and observation.
- Range-of-motion and passive exercise to maintain a person’s strength and muscle functioning.
- Tracheostomy suctioning and services to a person who uses ventilator support.
- Other activities within the scope of PCA services that meet the definition of health-related procedures and tasks.
